Keepers and retainers are how an Optima™ lock is tuned to a particular profile. Nine keeper profiles vary the pin engagement dimensions so the lock pulls the sash in correctly and compresses the weather seal without excess operating force.

Keepers are self-locating, retainers snap into the vertical positioning holes on the lock bar, and the lock backing plate is fitted behind the actuator. All are used by both the casement and awning locks.
